How To Make the Most of Your Mornings

Like many of you, my days can go by really fast. As soon as my alarm goes off it’s instantly time for me to start my day. I have to get my family and myself ready for that morning. I have to drop my older daughter off at school by 8:00 a.m. Then I usually have to go to the grocery store to pick up something for dinner. After that, I come home and make breakfast, take care of my other daughter who is an infant, and do preschool activities with my toddler son. By the time I look at my clock, it is afternoon and I’m left wondering where did the time go.
That’s when I realized, I need to slow down and start making the most of my mornings. In order for me to actually enjoy my mornings, I had to evaluate the things that I wanted to not only accomplish but what I wanted to improve. Here are a few things that I have done to make my mornings a little better.
1. Take a Moment for Yourself
When I get up in the morning I like to get myself together for the day, especially while my kids are still sleeping. It may mean waking up a little earlier, but once you get out the bed it makes it that much easier to get the day started. I find that I enjoy doing my makeup in the morning and listening to a podcast, a YouTube video, or maybe trying to watch an episode of Greys Anatomy (*side note* I am currently on season 12 of Greys Anatomy. I have not seen all of the seasons, but I have been enjoying just binge-watching all of the episodes. It gives me something to look forward to!)
But I really do enjoy putting myself together in the mornings. Getting myself ready makes me feel ready to take on the day! In my blog post, Best Drugstore Beauty Products, I tell you about some of my favorite drugstore beauty products. Making time for yourself could mean getting up early to meditate, having a cup of coffee, reading the Bible, having a light breakfast by yourself, or doing a morning jog. But a little self-love can do wonders!
2. Take Care of Your Responsibilities But Slow Down on The Things That Can Wait
There are some things that I cannot change, like dropping off my daughter at school. But I also realize that I need to be easier on myself and not try to do everything in the morning. I like getting things done early because I am a morning person, but some things you can wait to do. I could easily go to the store every day because it seems like I always need something. But learning to do a little planning like meal prepping on Sundays takes a lot of stress off of my life. I try to get everything I need on one shopping trip. Moms you do not have to have everything done at one time. Don’t be too hard on yourselves and learn to slow down. Plan out how you would like your week to go and slow down!
3. Find A Passion/Hobby and Invest in Yourself
It can be easy to put yourself and your passions on the back burner because you can easily get lost in everyday mommy duties. But you must do the things that you enjoy as well. Whether it’s journaling, blogging, painting, etc.. if you take an hour in the morning to invest your time into your passions you will be so surprised how joyful and productive that makes your morning. Working on this blog has become my passion project and I look forward to working on it every day. It makes me feel so good and productive to work on the things that make me happy. Having passions and hobbies helps you get back to the root of who you are and helps you love yourself a little more!
4. Find Time to Get Out and Get Some Fresh Air
Whether it’s a hot summer day or a cool fall morning, getting some fresh air can do wonders for your mind and your body. If you are a stay-at-home mom, it can be really easy to be stuck in the house all day. I know for me, getting some fresh air does really good for my sanity. You can take a nice walk or run, ride a bike or just sit on your front porch. Getting some fresh air and sun helps with having a great morning!
I hope these tips help you enjoy your mornings a little better. In my new blog post How to Relax After a Long Day, I give you some great tips to help you relax after you had a long day!

Awesome blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything.
Would you recommend starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There
are so many choices out there that I’m completely confused ..
Any ideas? Kudos!
Thank you so much!!! I am just starting on my blog as well so I am learning as I go. But you don’t have to be a perfect writer to start. Getting started is the hardest part. Write about what you enjoy and stay consistent. But def use a paid option because you will have absolute control over your website. I use Siteground which has been awesome and super easy to use. Good luck on starting your website!!
