As winter quickly approaches a lot of times it is so easy to throw on sweats and a sweatshirt to go about your day. I will be honest, when I dropped my daughter off at school today, I had on tights and a sweatshirt because it’s just so comfortable. Sometimes it’s just easier to find your warmest and comfiest clothes for this time of year. But I wanted to give you a few outfit ideas for winter to show you how to spruce up your wardrobe for the next few cold months ahead.
Winter Outfit 1

For this look, I love the simplicity of a pair of jeans and a sweater. The key to making this look even better is layering and adding accessories. The good thing about having a neutral sweater is that it looks great with anything. Adding a black jacket, belt, handbag, and black booties with this look makes your outfit look a little edgier and fashionable.
Also, playing with different types of hardware in your accessories, like gold and silver, really helps you dress your outfit up even more without even trying. Also, tall boots are great, but I think everyone should have at least one pair of short bootie boots in their closet. There is something about pairing these types of boots to your outfit that really does a good job of transforming your outfit into a super feminine and flirty look. These boots are especially cute with mom jeans. Mom jeans are very trendy now, so the tailoring at the end of the jeans that the model is wearing looks perfect with booties. This look is very easy and effortless but it looks so chic.
Winter Outfit 2

I know it’s cold outside, and who wants to wear a skirt in the wintertime? But if you are going out for a date or somewhere special, I want to show you how you can make skirts work in the wintertime. When it comes to skirts, there are so many different warmer materials that you can choose from. You want to find a skirt that has heavy or thick material. Types of thicker material can include tweed, corduroy, leather, knit, denim, wool, and velvet. You can wear a short skirt, midi skirt or opt for a longer skirt. No matter what, you can make a skirt look really good while keeping warm at the same time.
Pairing a skirt with a nice warm turtle neck or a cozy sweater and thick tights is the key to helping you stay warm. Accessorizing will also be your friend here! You can add a scarf and a hat for extra warmth, but still, look cute at the same time. Of course, I really love adding pops of colors to neutral colors to really enhance the outfit. Since Christmas is right around the corner, adding pops of red to your clothing is perfect for this time of year.
Winter Outfit 3

A look that I have been loving a lot is pairing any outfit with tennis shoes. For the summer, I really loved wearing tennis shoes with dresses or skirts. So for busy moms on the go, I can definitely understand how important comfort is. A look that I have been seeing a lot for winter is a pair of tights paired with either a turtle neck or a t-shirt and tennis shoes. The key here is adding a trench coat or whatever type of coat you have to make it look fashionable, yet comfortable and warm.
Layering and accessorizing is the key to making a quick and easy outfit look fashionable. Like I mentioned in a previous blog post Staple Fashion Items You Need In Your Wardrobe, I stated that sunglasses are a must-have. Sunglasses, even in the wintertime, can transform any outfit in seconds. A nice handbag definitely helps tie everything together.
Winter Outfit 4

For this look, instead of your standard black leggings, try wearing a pair of faux leather tights. Faux leather tights really push your look up a few notches for a sexier outfit. Even better, faux leather leggings can actually be very comfortable and can form to any body type really well. They can be worn anywhere or anytime.
Any type of top can pair really well with faux leather tights. You can choose a graphic tee with a leather jacket or a simple turtle neck. Boots and a nice handbag really do a good job of making your outfit complete. I love the color black paired with brown, like in the picture below. But of course, anything color looks amazing with black.
I hope these four style looks give you a little inspiration on how you can spruce up your wardrobe for the winter. Always remember that there are no rules when it comes to fashion, and it’s important to wear the things that make you feel your best. Also, you would be surprised at what you already have in your closet. When you get free time, just play dress-up (que your inner child), and create different looks. You will be surprised at what types of outfits you can create! I hope you have fun!
